of Medicine
Forum Purpose: In order to help address the complex and varied challenges formerly incarcerated individuals and their families encounter, this educational forum is designed to enhance the capacity of community-based human services agencies and faith-based organizations to provide comprehensive services to individuals and their families impacted by the criminal justice system. Providers will learn about approaches and specific programs that have worked as well as how to mitigate certain barriers and challenges that they will encounter in working with formerly incarcerated individuals and their families. In addition, providers can bring participants who have been formerly incarcerated to learn about additional services as well as share their first-hand knowledge and experiences about their successes and the ongoing challenges that they face. There will be ample opportunity for service providers as well as program participants to network throughout the day in order to learn more about programs and services.
Forum Highlights:
· Keynote Speaker: Tina Reynolds, Co-Founder of WORTH
· Plenary Panel: How have the Rockefeller reforms impacted re-entry?
· Six Interactive Panels:

2010-06-00
The Family Center (TFC) works with families that are dealing with parental illness or loss primarily due to AIDS and breast cancer where there are minor children. We also work with grandparents and other caregivers who are caring for minor children. I am writing to let you know about an excellent opportunity that could be very beneficial to the clients you serve. We offer FREE LEGAL WORKSHOPS. The workshops are provided in English and Spanish by highly seasoned attorneys. Some of the topics of the workshops we offer are:
Legal Workshops:
Advanced Directives Preparation (Health Care
Proxy, Power of Attorney, and Living Will)
Tenants’ Rights and Responsibilities
Housing Issues
Public Benefits/Entitlements
Family Law and Planning for your Children/Grandchildren
Permanency Planning
Lifetime Planning
These workshops are scheduled to last up to two hours. However, they can be reduced to meet your programmatic needs. They can be scheduled at a time that best suits the population(s) you serve, and are tailored to meet the needs of your clients. If you cannot find a topic from our list that would be of interest to your clients, please let us know. We would be more than happy to do our best to accommodate your clients’ needs. In addition, these workshops can be provided at your site. We are hopeful that these workshops will complement the great working you are already doing with your clients. Again, these services are completely FREE. If as a result of these workshops we find that a client needs to meet with an attorney or a social worker, we will gladly refer them to our Legal and/or Social Services Department for additional services. Please feel free to contact me at your earliest convenience. I will be more than happy to work with you in this effort.
