THE HEALTHY WOMAN:
NATIONAL WOMEN'S HEALTH WEEK EVENT - Health Fair
2010-05-15 10am-3pm
Rockaway Family Medical Care
2098 Rockaway Parkway (At Seaview Ave) Brooklyn, NY11236
Brooklyn, NY – Neighborhood Health Providers and Rockaway Family Medical Care are joining the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office on Women’s Health in celebrating National Women’s Health Week. On Saturday May 15, 2010, Neighborhood Health Providers will hold “The Healthy Woman” health fair at Rockaway Family Medical Care located at 2098 Rockaway Parkway in Canarsie; where women in the community will be able to receive free health screenings, free or low cost health insurance; information on domestic violence, HPV, nutrition, breast feeding, cancer and other concerns facing women today.
National Women’s Health Week is a nationwide initiative that calls attention to the importance of women’s health. The theme for National Women’s Health Week is “It’s Your Time.” National Women’s Health Week is important because it encourages women to take time for their health; because women are so often the caregivers for their families, they often forget to make their health a priority.
National Women’s Health Week kicks off on Mother’s Day, May 9, and will be celebrated until May 15, 2010. National Women’s Checkup Day — a day where women across the country are urged to visit their doctor — will be held on May 10. In addition, Rockaway Family Medical Care will be offering a different health screening each day of Women’s Health Week beginning on Monday May 10, 2010. To learn more about “The Healthy Woman” health fair, please visit www.getnhp.com
