Cancer and Minorities: Addressing Risk and Optimizing Treatment Outcomes 2008-12-12 9am-3:30pm
NYU Langone Medical Center Classroom F, Schwartz Lecture Hall
550 First Avenue New York
There are a number of effective initiatives to ensure that minority patients are adequately represented in cancer risk reduction, early detection, and treatment programs. Minority populations are at higher risk of dying from particular cancers. Medically underserved minorities face multiple barriers, including financial, legal, linguistic, and cultural, to accessing important cancer care services. Providing risk reducing services such as screening and counseling can decrease cancer morbidity and mortality.
This event is free of charge and open to all. Please visit www.med.nyu.edu/courses/cme/cancerrisk for more information.
